For those of you who have seen Battle of Gods, you know that Vegeta was able to surpass SSJ3 Goku and Ultimate Gohan when he got angry at Beerus for b**** slapping Bulma. This did not sit well with people because Gohan is supposed to have potential surpassing that of Goku and Vegeta. Normally this would be true, but I've come up a with a theory for why Vegeta was able to get stronger than Ultimate Gohan. Going back to the moment in time where Goku and Vegeta fused to make Vegetto, Rou Kaioshin pointed out that Vegetto was stronger than normal because they were rivals. My theory is that once Vegetto diffused back to Goku and Vegeta, that boost Vegetto received upon fusing increased Goku's and Vegeta's potential by the same amount. Naturally Goku and Vegeta receiving a power boost from this increase doesn't make sense since Goku still found himself weaker than Evil Buu, but something like a potential increase would be unnoticeable. During Battle of Gods, Vegeta was able to access this overwhelming potential increase through anger, and that's how he was able to surpass Gohan. This is my In-Universe explanation for this event anyway. |

So they could be at a level around Vegito but need a trigger? Like Vegeta's example in BoGs. Decent. |

Good theory man, but let me ask you this. Are you carrying this through into the manga universe as well? |

Would that basically mean that any other character could tap into their hidden power through anger like Gohan and Now Vegeta did? Does it just take anger nowadays? |

Well yeah, Battle of Gods is canon to the manga IMO. |

How is it canon to the Manga if the one who made the Anime is the Director of BOG? Also, TOEI is the Director, AT had to do what TOEI wanted... so that should be taken into account before saying it's canon. I am not a betting man, but I am willing to bet that TOEI had AT make several changes to his script before they were satisfied. It doesn't matter if it's live action or Anime, no movie has only one script... there are several drafts to a script and the Director has to agree with it before it's used as the finished product. I think that's overlooked when talking about BOG, nobody wants to admit that AT wasn't in charge and had to play TOEI's game. Edited by Saberoph, Jun 28 2014, 04:04 PM.

Toriyama has incorporated Beerus into past events of his manga through various interviews. Toriyama rewrote the entire script. It's also stated to be part of the "official history". It's canon. |

Then you have to prove that TOEI didn't have AT make any changes to please TOEI. Until you do, it's all speculation BOG being canon and it's ignoring how Movies work... unless you can prove that the writer is the boss and not the Director. Can you? Also, even after AT came in he wasn't the only writer around either... so unless the other writer did Nothing the whole time he was there and AT wrote every draft and every word. Then BOG can't be canon, because AT wrote all of the original Manga. Edited by Saberoph, Jun 28 2014, 04:20 PM.

Don't you have to prove he did? That's the epitome of conjecture my friend. I at least have something backing up my beliefs. |

I'm still waiting on you proving that the other writer did nothing and AT wrote every single word and everything was all AT's ideas and words. If you can prove that, then BOG can be taken seriously as canon, if it can't then it's can't be Manga canon. So, let's see it. |

I needn't prove anything other than what we actually know. You're assuming things you can't prove, which is the problem. Toriyama, like I said, has even incorporated Beerus into the events of the manga. For example, Toriyama has stated Beerus was the one that trapped Ol' Kaioshin in the Z-Sword. Also, your definition of canon is highly skewed:
It doesn't have to be written by the original author to be canon. That's like saying Star Wars episodes 7, 8, and 9 aren't going to be canon because George Lucas won't be involved. Edited by ThePrinceOfSaiyans, Jun 28 2014, 04:40 PM.

Actually it was Toei who wrote the original script and Toriyama who rewrote the entire thing (keeping only the God elements). |
